For forty days the flood kept coming upon the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth. So begins the saga of the flood and Noah's journey.
The waters rose and covered over the mountain tops of a depth of more than twenty feet and every living thing that was not upon the Ark at this time perished. All birds, livestock, wild animals, creatures that swarmed and all of mankind too.
The waters flooded the earth for 150 days, that is about four and half months. God remembers Noah and the Ark. GOD sets a wind over the earth to help the waters dry up and recede from the land.
Genesis 8: 3-4 "The water receded steadily from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the water had gone down, and on the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.
